Croatia. Dubrovnik and Lokrum | Travel Diary 2017.

Ah, where do  I even begin? Those were exactly my thoughts when anyone asked me how my holiday was. Where do I begin? Other than the fact is was one of the best holidays. Dubrovnik has to be one of the most beautiful cities I've had the pleasure of visiting. It was incredibly clean (literally not even cigarette butts on the floor), the buildings were stunning and the scenery was unreal.

It's funny looking back to the beginning of the year when Alex and I were struggling so much with where to go on our annual holiday. You're talking about the likes of Mauritius, Bali, Mexico, Italy, South Africa, seriously the list goes on but nothing ever stood out and the more we looked the more expensive it got. The whole point for us was to keep it cheap so we could have a winter holiday as appose to a summer holiday because we wanted to do something different this year. However, having said that we also wanted a summer break. So, here we were in a huge dilemma so we started researching cheap holidays when Alex came across Korcula- an island off from Dubrovnik. To get to Korcula you have to fly to Dubrovnik then catch a 2-hour boat which did not appeal to us as every single time one of us struggles with motion sickness. Again in a dilemma and wanting to also see Dubrovnik we came to the conclusion we would spend 4 days in Dubrovnik and then 3 days in Korcula before coming back to Dubrovnik to fly home but this started looking far too complicated and full on when in reality all we wanted to do was relax, sightsee, swim and chill out. So it was decided, we were going to spend 5 nights, 6 days in Dubrovnik which is plenty of time to see it and relax while keeping the cost down. We booked our flights, our Airbnb and it was settled.
Dubrovnik is one of those places where everywhere you turn there is a beautiful sight in front of you. The city itself has beautiful buildings, many side streets to explore with every single one looking so different to the last. We spent our first day just wondering around taking everything in and making note of things we wanted to do/see. Among the many long walks around we did the walk on the wall which definitely had that #nofilter view from every single point. We also went on a buggy safari which was awesome and went up the cable car to enjoy a picnic dinner while watching the sunset.

We also spent one of the days at Lokrum island which is a beautiful little island accessible with a 15-minute boat or alternatively you can kayak over there. Brimming with wildlife there are peacocks everywhere and we also saw some rabbits. There is plenty to do with lots of different walks, food to eat and places to relax in the sun/swim. If you're a Game of Thrones fan then I would recommend you definitely go because there were plenty of filming locations as well as the famous throne.
I would have to say all in all we had such a wonderful time! We got to spend some quality time together, have fun, try just about every flavour of ice cream, take part in some amazing adventures and see some of the most beautiful sights.

On to the images ...
Dubrovnik.
This was the gorgeous view from our Airbnb. We had a nice spacious balcony where we enjoyed breakfast every morning with this view.
The famous 'Shame' steps.
Our amazing dinner view.

Lokrum.

Back to Dubrovnik.
Of course, we consumed plenty of fish.

I hope you have enjoyed looking into our holiday. If these images haven't convinced you to go I don't know what will, it's honestly such a beautiful place.
