Paris | Travel Diary 2013.

Hello!

For my 21st birthday, my partner Alex and I decided to do something a little extra special to mark a special age- because 21 is special right? So, we came up with the idea to go to Paris! As we were both still at university (and poor) we decided to make a day of it rather than a prolonged period of time. My birthday being November 4th, and this being during term we decided to go in December. For my actual birthday, Alex's parents and my family all went out for a meal. I also had a meal with all my university friends and I honestly couldn't have asked for a more wonderful birthday BUT it was even more exciting knowing that I was going to Paris! Soon enough December 16th rolled around and so did the 4:30am alarm set for that day (I know, the things we do). We caught the 5:42am train to St Pancreas international where we then transferred to the Eurostar. Goodbye, miserable weather of  England and hello beautiful blue skies of France. The weather could not have timed itself any better if it tried. For a mid December day it was beautiful and the sky remained blue all day. We stopped off at a little patisserie for a classic French breakfast of croissants because what else would you possibly want in Paris.

We spent the entire day sight seeing all we could from The Louvre, Arc De Triomphe, Trocadéro, of course The Eiffel Tower which we walked up because the queue to the lift was so long and they really cram you inside- no thanks. I think we walked/climbed to the second floor.

We stopped for lunch at La Terrasse and had the most incredible lunch of Moules-frites.

After, we headed to Notre Dame and had a little look inside. To finish off the day we went to one of the love bridges and placed a lock on which we had brought with us. I would love to go back and see it again. One of the best things about the day (aside from it being a birthday adventure) was that it felt so Christmassy for me. There were so many Christmas stalls, and Christmas decorations up which made the day that so much more special (I love Christmas!!!) It was a birthday treat but at the same time one of those Christmas market days which get you so excited for Christmas. I had such a wonderful day but now to let the photos do the talking.

Enjoying a nice warm cup of mulled wine!

If you're planning a trip to Paris and have any questions please feel free to ask. I hope you have a wonderful time, I thoroughly enjoyed it and cannot wait to go back again.

Thank you for reading
