Is there any better way to commence the New Year than being away on holiday. No, I didn't think so either. Alex and I were incredibly lucky to go and spend a week away in Scotland staying with my mum, her partner and my brother. As they live so far away from me I don't get to see them, especially over Christmas as Christmas day was my only day off from work. I was not blessed like others with a week off for Christmas, instead I had the joy of working right up until Christmas Eve and back to work on Boxing day for another 5 days at work.
So, of course I was soooo excited for December 30th because that would be my last day at work until January 10th! We got to have a super relaxing day on the 31st, and enjoyed an incredible dinner at Kyoto's Kitchen (omg insanely delicious) before commencing on the very long 7 hour drive on the 1st of January up to Paisley collecting my brother along the way. We left at 4:30am so we managed to arrive by 12:30pm giving us the rest of the day to enjoy ourselves. I won't go into too much personal detail but we got to have ourselves a second Christmas and boy did we have a wonderful time during our stay. I haven't felt that relaxed in months! We got to explore, relax, laugh, have fun and sight see. Honestly could not have had a better start to 2017 (and definitely the cheapest holiday I've ever had).
